# COOP Design Research M.Sc.

> A two-term Master of Science program (60 ECTS) that integrates design and research as transdisciplinary fields. Hosted at the iconic Bauhaus building in Dessau, the program is a collaboration between Bauhaus Dessau Foundation, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, and Humboldt University Berlin. Taught entirely in English, the program critically examines how designers contribute to knowledge production across design as research methodology, educational practice, and societal projection.

## Program

- **Qualification:** Master of Science (HS Anhalt)
- **Duration:** Two terms (60 ECTS), optional third term available
- **Language:** English (thesis may be written in German)
- **Location:** Bauhaus building, Dessau (primary); Berlin components included
- **Cost:** €1,250 per semester
- **Study period:** October 1 – September 30

## Curriculum

- **Design Research Laboratory** – 15 weeks, 10 ECTS. Three interconnected seminars on knowledge production in design, including excursions and workshops.
- **Theory and Methods** – 15 weeks, 5 ECTS. Research methodologies: literature research, archival study, data analysis, qualitative methods.
- **Research Colloquium** – 5 block sessions, 10 ECTS total. Peer feedback, collaborative discussion, thesis development.
- **Guest Lectures & Workshops** – 10 ECTS. International scholars and practitioners; elective workshops with partner institutions.
- **Master's Thesis** – 25 ECTS total (5 ECTS proposal + 20 ECTS research project).

## Admission

**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (min. 240 ECTS) in architecture, design, cultural studies, or related field
- Minimum one year of professional work experience in architecture, design, or cultural production
- C1 English language proficiency

**Application period:** December 15, 2025 – May 15, 2026 (rolling admission for early submissions)
